September 22, 2019

Mission Illinois – By praying for and giving to the Mission Illinois offering, you’re helping to provide leadership training to churches throughout this state along with missions mobilization, student ministry, new church starts and more. Our church has received $312 toward our goal of $600 so far. Thank you for giving.

Adult Choir – Practice will start tonight at 5pm!  Please pick up a new schedule on the foyer table!  All youth and adults are invited to join!

IL Changers – Scott and Angie will be leading a team of youth to IL Changers at Lake Sallateeska, Sept. 27-29. Please keep them in prayer as they serve in this hands-on missions opportunity.

Men’s Breakfast – All men and boys are invited to the men’s breakfast next Sunday, Sept. 29 at 7:00 am.  Steve’s world-famous sausage gravy and biscuits will be the featured menu item, along with scrambled eggs, fresh coffee and good fellowship.  Bring a friend and enjoy.

Youth Encounter – Attention youth! Don’t miss out on this exciting one-day event which is being held at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Decatur on Sunday, Oct. 13.  Permission slips are due today!  If you wish to order a t-shirt your $15 is also due for that today!  See Angie or Scott for more info.

JOY – Senior Trip to Tanner’s Orchard in Spear, IL is coming up September 30.  Please let Penny Snyder (217-341-6092) know if you plan to attend.

Church 101 – Want to find out more about who we are as a church, what we believe, why we do what we do, and how you can be a part of it? Then join us for Church 101, a 4-week class starting Oct. 6 at 9:30 Sunday mornings in Room 15. Contact Pastor Rob for more information.

Menard County Food Pantry – Your donations of non-perishable food items are always welcome and appreciated as we partner with this local community ministry! Volunteers are also needed to serve on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1-3. If you’re interested, please see Keith for more info.

Offering Envelopes – Your gifts to the First Baptist Church are greatly appreciated and intentionally used to further the message of Jesus. Did you know that your gifts are also tax-deductible? When you give using offering envelopes we will provide you with a year-end Contribution Statement for your tax records. Boxes of offering envelopes are available from the church office, or pick one up from the table in the foyer.

Bible Reading Challenge for 2019 – Gain wisdom for the journey as you follow Christ. 1. Read one chapter in Proverbs each day. 2. Highlight and meditate on one verse that jumps out at you. 3. Commit this verse to memory, to prayer, and to practice. And you’ll soon be choosing to walk more faithfully in the way of wisdom in the New Year!
